Funded Projects
So far, £10.7 million has been raised through The Health Lottery in the East Midlands.
Thanks to this money, 278 of local projects have been funded by People’s Health Trust, since 2011.
Derby West Indian Community Association
Were awarded £40,000 for a two-year project to continue to deliver a programme of regular social and cultural activities, run by and for older people from black and minority ethnic communities living in Derby.
Activities will include weekly dance and fitness, fortnightly social activities such as board games and film evenings and monthly speaker events and support groups. The project has been developed based on feedback, and will continue to be developed by participants through discussion groups, feedback questionnaires and participants leading on planning and delivery.
Pink Lizard Developing Youth and Community Ltd
Were awarded £35,180 for a project to deliver twice weekly meet-ups for new Mums from the Freeman’s Estate in Leicester, to provide a place to come together with their children, socialise, make new friends and share and support each other with the challenges of parenting and other issues such as financial difficulties.

The project will tackle stress and anxiety, social isolation and by building a supportive community help the mums to improve confidence in their parenting abilities. Sessions will include a range of play equipment and a nursery worker to provide fun and developmental activities for the children. In addition, there will be a monthly outdoor outing to local attractions.
